But since its inception, people who aren’t Kardashev have had the opportunity to iterate on his original idea…from thinking about where blue whales fall on the Scale, to thinking up entirely *new* scales to describe humanity’s relationship with the world around them.

Bros. We’re not even at kardashev 0.4.
We don’t capture energy. We waste it.
We burn stored energy faster than we can replace it. We will run out of easy energy and revert to pre industrial standards of living.
A kardashev scale civilization would have spent their planetary resources building mining and manufacturing facilities out of the gravity well and on a Dyson swarm.
Instead we have private cars, big houses, and Big Macs.
The point of a Dyson Sphere is that it requires a Dyson Sphere to get enough energy to mine a planet like Mercury to build the Dyson Sphere
Crazy we could be advancing so much as a collective species and protect our planet, but we're still arguing over skin color and sky deities 😂
9:15 given the power that a type 2.5 ish civ could muster it would be within their reach to construct such a collider just as it was a great effort for us to build the LHC. They would lay the groundwork millions of years ahead but wouldn’t need a closed loop just a handful of nodes passing particles.
But we're 7.276 on the Kardashian scale though 😅

Alien civilizations wondering if we are here?
I wish no such thoughts on no alien civilization.
I prefer type 1 to be using energy of a planet-coal, oil, natural gas, solar, wind, nuclear. Type 2 uses the energy of stars which would be fusion. Type 3 would be antimatter.
